The annual BD Comic Strip Festival arrives this Friday at Brussels’ Tour & Taxis district. This year’s three-day festival promises to be larger than ever.
Comic fans will zigzag between the publishers' stands and nearly 200 signing sessions at the Gare Maritime, as well as an international pavilion to sample stories from other cultures. Workshops, meetings and exhibitions will take place during this free event for of all ages.
Held for the second time at Tour & Taxis, the “BD Comic Strip Festival” celebrates the 77th anniversary of Editions du Lombard with two special exhibitions (“The Lombard, a family affair” and “Odyssey to the origins of Blake and Mortimer”) at the Comic Strip Museum (CBBD).
Under the patronage of Aveline Stokart, designer of the “Elles” series which shares the same publisher as the Tintin journal, the event poster brings to life a carousel of heroes from the so-called “ninth art”, such as Smurfette, Yakari, and Ducobu. These characters are also represented by giant balloons, which will guide families to numerous activities throughout the festival.
