Popular Belgian music festival Tomorrowland has announced plans to build a water park that will "redefine aquatic entertainment."
In a YouTube promotional video, the organisers of what has been dubbed the world's best music festival also promise that the park will provide "a magical vision in the realm of leisure" and "an oasis of relaxation".
The video shows a futuristic and luxurious domed arena filled with multiple pools and water slides, at the centre of which is a giant, leafless tree with tentacle-shaped roots and branches.
The park will be called 'Life', which is also the name of next year's festival. The idea for it was reportedly conceived and developed with Dutch theme park company Momentum Leisure. It is currently being presented at the MAPIC trade fair in Cannes.
Tomorrowland spokesperson Debby Wilmsen noted that the park will include indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a restaurant and bar.
"We are trying to make our festival worlds live on for a year or even longer," Wilmsen told Het Nieuwsblad. "In Planaxis [Tomorrowland's 2018 festival] there was an underwater world. We want to bring something like this to life in the park."
De Morgen has since reported that the park will likely be based near Kownaty, a village in western Poland just a couple of hours' drive from Berlin.
Wilmsen, however, did not confirm the park's future location: "If we find a partner in Italy with a place there, that is also possible."
This is not the first time that Tomorrowland has ventured outside of the music sector. In 2021, it inaugurated a rollercoaster at the Plopsaland amusement park in De Panne. Last year, it opened a luxury glamping site outside of Dubai.
In mid-December, Tomorrowland will also unveil 'The Great Library of Tomorrow' in Barcelona, offering "a unique VR [Virtual Reality] and audiovisual experience" allowing people to "experience the magic of Tomorrowland like never before."

"You have to take a lot into account [when choosing] a location: space for your park, but also parking, logistics, and then also mobility. This is often the reason we go abroad," Wilmsen said.
"With Tomorrowland, we set the bar high. The entire plan [for the water park] must follow this principle."
