King Philippe and Princess Elisabeth welcomed former United States President Barack Obama to the Laeken Castle on Sunday.
The Belgian Royal Family posted on social media a photo capturing the event. Obama is scheduled to continue his travels to Puurs Sint-Amands later in the day to give a lecture at the Studio 100 Pop-Up Theatre.
The event with the title ‘An Evening With President Barack Obama’ will see the former US leader "give a talk on the challenges we face and his vision for the future".
The event forms part of Supernova, a technology festival organised by Flanders Technology and Innovation (FTI), with the funds of the Flemish Government.
According to La Libre, Supernova Festival has paid between €400,000 to €600,000 to book Barack Obama for this one speech.
