The CGSP and CSC unions have issued a strike notice at Bpost until 22 April, they confirmed to Belga on Monday.
With the state concession for newspaper distribution due to expire on 30 June, workers warn that the service will deteriorate and are calling for a change of direction in the company's choices for the future.
"While the company claimed that everything would be done to keep newspapers with Bpost, we now know that this will not be the case," the CSC wrote on its website on Wednesday.
"If an agreement is reached with the publishers, the only option being defended is the eventual transfer of daily newspaper distribution to the AMP subsidiary, with an impact on all the company's employees. This is totally unacceptable!"
Newspaper distribution was already disrupted on Saturday, Le Soir reported on Monday morning.
According to Stéphane Daussaint, National Manager of CSC Transcom Postes, and Thierry Tasset, General Secretary of CGSP Poste, further action could take place later this week.

A wider, month-long strike will therefore take place from 22 April if there is "no profound change in the company's visions in terms of restructuring and the way it organises press distribution," Daussaint warned.
"We hope that some people will come to their senses [...] The social climate is very tense. We are trying to maintain dialogue until then, but I have major doubts," Tasset added.
"The priority is social dialogue," replied Bpost spokesperson Laura Cerrada Crespo. "We understand that there is a period of vagueness and uncertainty that is giving rise to fears, and we are listening to these [...] But we are in discussion with the publishers and we are keen to make offers that remain in line with our social model."
