The Belgian Hydrogen Council (BHC), NLHydrogen (NLH) and Nationaler Wasserstoffrat (NWR) pledged their commitment to advancing the hydrogen economy in Northwestern Europe by signing an agreement in Rotterdam, according to the Flemish regional cluster Waterstofnet.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) seeks to create a platform for collaboration between industry, governments, universities, research institutions and civil society aimed at promoting innovation and sustainability in the hydrogen sector.

Collaborative publications, promoting wider adoption of hydrogen-based technologies, and supporting the integration of hydrogen into the renewable energy landscape in line with European policies are amongst the MoU’s goals.

This cooperation embodies activities such as the exchange of information, joint meetings and workshops, along with unified communication and promotion of successful outcomes.

The three signatories believe that this partnership will bring considerable benefits to the market by promoting initiatives in both technology and market development and policy, according to the press release.

"The import of green hydrogen from countries with ample wind, sun and space into European industry is a crucial step towards achieving European climate goals," said Tom Hautekiet, Chairman of the Belgian Hydrogen Council, in the press release. "This collaborative effort will benefit not only the Belgian industry, but will also contribute to the prosperity of the whole region," he added.
