The mayor of Saint-Gilles, Jean Spinette, has been assaulted in his municipality according to local police.
The incident occurred on the Parvis of Saint-Gilles around 10.45 am when an individual attacked the mayor, attempting to land several punches. The mayor was able to avoid the assault, and the perpetrator fled the scene.
“We are currently searching for this individual,” the police stated.
The attacker’s motives are unknown.
