A new vaccination campaign against the Covid-19 virus will be organised in Flanders this autumn, as the vaccine is being embedded in the regular annual vaccination calendar of the Flemish Government, Flemish Welfare Minister Hilde Crevits (CD&V) announced.

Like in 2023, the focus of this autumn's campaign will be on vulnerable people and people living in residential care centres. The vaccination will again be carried out by GPs, pharmacists and home nurses. The aim is to administer the latest vaccine, which is currently still being developed.

"This is how we protect children and adults against the most serious consequences of various diseases," Crevits said. "By 2030, we want to protect the population even better with vaccinations."

Last year, a total of about 1.5 million vaccines were administered. In the coming months, everything will be put in place to ensure the campaign runs smoothly. A budget of €1.55 million is planned for the new campaign.
