Belgium no longer has highest job vacancy rate in the EU

Belgium is no longer the European Union Member State with the highest job vacancy rate, according to figures from the European statistical office Eurostat. Austria now tops the list.

Austria is now the EU Member State with the highest job vacancy rate in the bloc, with a rate of 4.5%, followed closely by Belgium and the Netherlands, both at 4.4%.

A year ago, Belgium's job vacancy rate was slightly higher at 4.7%.

In comparison, the average EU job vacancy rate for the first quarter of 2024 is recorded at 2.6%, a fall from the previous year. In the eurozone, the rate remains stable at 2.9%, mirroring the first quarter of 2023.
