A new website has been launched to help asylum seekers through the registration of their asylum applications, the Belgian Immigration Office announced.

Applying for asylum requires applications to be registered with the Immigration office. To better inform applicants about the stages of this process, the Immigration Office has developed a website, co-financed by the European Union.

Available in 16 different languages, the website explains what happens at each step of the application process through text, videos and audio. Posters with QR codes and the website's URL are displayed in the waiting rooms so that those waiting can consult the website using the free Wi-Fi connection offered. The information is also offered through brochures and information kiosks.

The website's ultimate aim is to facilitate the registration process and improve its quality and efficiency, the Immigration Office stated.

Last year, over 35,000 asylum applications were registered in Belgium, according to the Belgian agency for the reception of asylum seekers Fedasil.
