The 21st edition of the National Ball took place at Place du Jeu de Balle in the heart of the Marolles area of Brussels on Saturday evening.
By approximately 20:00, around 7,200 people had congregated in the square, according to Brussels-Capital/Ixelles police reports. The crowd swelled to over 15,000 by the end of the night.
Despite scorching temperatures nearing 30°C, the Ball began at 19:00 with a dance warm-up led by the Upside Down collective. "After several days of preparation in cooperation with the local traders, merchants and residents, this wonderful party can finally start," the National Ball's founder, Frank Anthierens, stated.
Shortly before 20:00, the Rita & Jojo band launched the musical festivities, paying tribute to the renowned Belgian singer Annie Cordy by performing some of her greatest hits.
"This year, we are adding an international touch to the Ball, a departure from our usual Belgian-centric programme," Anthierens explained. The night honoured music icons Johnny Hallyday, Lady Gaga, and Claude François, with performances by artists Johnny Dom, Otice and Ludovic Tournay.

Brussels City Mayor also joined in the festivities. "Thank you to the more than 15,000 people who came to enjoy the atmosphere at Place du Jeu de Balle," he said on social media.
The evening concluded just before 01:00 with DJ El Bacha and FC Bokken on the decks.
"The National Ball remains a time for openness and connection, a place where everyone is welcome, without any distinction," Anthierens emphasised.
