National Day: Belgian royals attend Te Deum in Brussels (photos)

King Philippe, Queen Mathilde and their four children attended the traditional Te Deum at the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula in Brussels on Sunday 21 July for Belgian National Day, Belga News Agency reports.

Hundreds gathered to cheer on and applaud the sovereigns.

Several members of the acting government, including outgoing Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and Home Affairs Minister Annelies Verlinden, ascended the cathedral steps at 09:45 to attend the religious service.

Following the ceremony, the royal couple and their children greeted the crowd. Queen Mathilde and Crown Princess Elisabeth, along with Princes Gabriel, Emmanuel, and Princess Eléonore, graciously agreed to pose for a few selfies.

Additional royal family members were present at the Te Deum celebrations this Sunday. Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz attended the service in Bruges, while Prince Laurent visited Namur.
