July at Brussels Airport saw the highest number of passengers per month since 2019, announced the airport in a statement on Friday.

Around 2.5 million passengers passed through the Brussels Airport last month, a 5% increase compared to 2023. Transfer passengers accounted for only 10% of the total number.

The start of the summer holiday period is the main driver behind the increase in numbers. It is also the reason behind the trend of departing passengers outnumbering those arriving.

According to the airport, on average, each flight in July had "an all-time record" of  152 passengers, two more per flight compared to July 2023. Over 19,000 flights were recorded in July, with passenger flights increasing by 3%.

The ten most popular destinations in July were the same as in June, namely Spain, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Germany, Morocco, the United States, Portugal, France and the United Kingdom.
