Monday was Belgium's hottest 12 August, topping 34°C

Temperatures soared to a record-breaking 34°C on Monday at Uccle measuring station in Brussels. Meteorologist David Dehenauw announced this new high for a 12th of August on X social network.

The previous daily record of 33.5°C, set in 2003, was already surpassed by 4:30 p.m., when Uccle’s thermometer registered 33.6°C.

The Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM)’s network reported the highest temperature in Beitem, Western Flanders, where the mercury hit 34.3°C, matching readings in Gosselies and Beauvechain.

The 34°C mark was also exceeded in Diepenbeek (34.2°C), Middelkerke and Zaventem (34.1°C) and Kleine Brogel (34.0°C), according to Dehenauw.
