A Belgian citizen was abducted and assaulted by two individuals in Marrakech, reported Moroccan media outlet Fes News.

The victim was hospitalised last weekend and Moroccan police apprehended the suspects on Monday. The incident is allegedly related to "suspicious business transactions."

Local law enforcement located the Belgian man on Saturday. He had been held captive in a Marrakech apartment, exhibiting "clear signs of physical violence, including bruising."

Fes News suggests that the incident is linked to "suspect business transactions," with the primary suspect also connected to another ongoing investigation involving falsification and fraudulent activities.

The suspects, aged 34 and 38, are currently in custody awaiting further investigation into the incident’s circumstances. One is a French citizen of Moroccan extraction.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, when contacted by Belga, could not yet provide further details.
