Tap water quality in the coastal towns of Duinbergen and Heist (West Flanders) has failed to meet drinkability standards, according to local authorities. Residents are advised to boil the water for five minutes as a precaution.

Recent tests have revealed a low concentration of bacteria in the water in these two areas, the municipality of Knokke-Heist stated. Until further test results arrive, residents are recommended to boil tap water for five minutes before consuming it.

Residents will be notified once the water is safe for consumption again. However, in the meantime, using tap water for showering, washing (dishes) and household cleaning is safe.

Anyone who may have consumed the tap water and is experiencing poisoning symptoms should consult their doctor.
