Eurozone inflation at its lowest in three years

Inflation within the Eurozone slowed significantly  in August, falling to 2.2% year-on-year, according to figures released by Eurostat on Friday.

This was its lowest level since July 2021.

A decline in energy prices contributed to the slowdown.

Consumer price increases are now approaching the European Central Bank’s target of 2%. This could support a continued decline in interest rates in September.

Inflation had hit 2.5% in June, and 2.6% in July.
