Star-studded line-up announced for 39th FIFF in Namur

The line-up for the 39th Festival International du Film Francophone (FIFF),  in Namur, includes prominent figures such as Romain Duris, Charlotte Le Bon, Zabou Breitman, Louis Garrel, and Michel Hazanavicius.

The festival begins on Friday, 27 September with Emmanuel Courcol’s 'En fanfare' and ends on 4 October with François Ozon’s 'Quand vient l’automne.' Both films will premiere in Namur before their general release.

Swiss director Frédéric Baillif, who won the Bayard d’Or in 2021 for 'La mif,' will chair the feature-film jury.

He will be joined by actors Karim Leklou and Nahéma Ricci, Alex Moussa Sawadogo from FESPACO - the Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou - and Belgian director Paloma Semon-Daï, the last Bayard d’Or winner.

The jury will assess 12 feature films in the official competition. These include Belgian film “Aimer perdre” by Lenny and Harpo Guit, and seven Belgian co-productions.

Cinema viewers will be taken on a journey from Madagascar ('Disco Afriko: une histoire malgache) to Rwanda ('Didy') and Peru ('Fuga'), not to forget Lebanon ('Le quatrième mur') and Tunisia ('Les enfants rouges')

The line-up futher includes 'Leurs enfants après eux,' 'Lucy Grizzly Sophie,' 'Planète B' (with Adèle Exarchopoulos), and 'Saint-Ex' (with Louis Garrel).

The selection features two animated films: 'La plus précieuse des marchandises' by Michel Hazanavicius and  'Sauvages' by Claude Barras.
