Flights at Brussels South Charleroi Airport (BSCA) are resuming as normal from today (Saturday) following a two-day strike on Thursday and Friday due to the staff's high workload and poor working conditions.
On Friday, management and unions reached an agreement after an entire day of negotiations on Friday. A tentative commitment was reached, that suffices for the striking staff to want to resume work.
"The discussions were long, but the talks were serene in a climate of trust that was restored little by little," union representative Carl Yernaux (CNE) told Belga News Agency.
From Saturday, air traffic will return to normal. In a press release, the management apologised to passengers who could not travel on Thursday and Friday due to the strike.
While a final solution has not yet been found, there is enough openness to discuss the staff's issues further in the coming months. Due to the union action, there was no air traffic at Charleroi Airport for two days in a row. Affected passengers are asked to contact their airline to book a new flight or request a refund.
