A significant number of US soldiers of Polish descent fought in Bastogne, Luxembourg Province, during World War II, and they have not been forgotten.

On Thursday, three representatives of the Polish Army Association will honour these fallen soldiers by laying flowers at the Mardasson Memorial.

The memorial, also known as the Battle of the Bulge Monument, honours the memory of US soldiers wounded or killed in the Battle of the Bulge, which was fought in and around Bastogne.

After the ceremony, Mayor Benoît Lutgen, Bastogne War Museum Director Mathieu Billa, and Tempora Exhibition Company Director Benoît Remiche will receive commemorative medals for their contribution to preserving the memory of the war.

The commemoration is part of a five-day visit to Bastogne by the Polish army representatives, organised by the Walloon tourism office, VisitWallonia. During their stay, they will explore various combat sites, monuments, and museums.
