Ten suspects have been arrested in connection with a case involving kidnapping and money laundering linked to drug trafficking, the Brussels-North police zone reported on Friday.

Last Tuesday, approximately 12 searches were conducted by the police in the relevant area. The investigation began in April following an assault in Evere.

The victim was forcibly taken into a vehicle, tortured, and managed to escape to alert the police. Two suspects lurking near the victim’s vehicle were arrested, initiating a centralised judicial investigation (CJI).

The investigation identified 13 individuals suspected of kidnapping, torture, and money laundering against the victim and others.

During Tuesday’s operation involving 88 police officers, searches were conducted at the suspects’ homes in Evere, Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, Anderlecht, Ganshoren, and Watermael-Boitsfort. Brussels-North police confirmed that the operation was incident-free.

Out of all the suspects, ten were arrested, and six were presented to the investigating judge. Three of them were charged, with one subsequently released under conditions.
