The Belgian capital has been named the fifth-best European "pizza city" outside of Italy, as it is home to several award-winning establishments serving up the delicious dish.
It goes without saying that the best country in the world to enjoy pizza is Italy. However, Italian migrants have brought their craft and traditional recipes for the delicious dish to all corners of the globe.
To find the top cities for pizza in Europe outside of Italy, international food magazine Chef's Pencil analysed the rankings published by the Italian pizza guide '50 Top Pizza' over the past six years. This put Brussels in fifth place, with five top-rated pizzerias located in the Belgian capital.
This year, three Brussels restaurants were included in the prestigious Italian list: La Piola Pizza (15th), La Pizza è Bella (19th) and, for the first time, naPizzà, located on Place Van Meyel in Etterbeek (46th). In 2023, La Pizza è Bella Gourmet was also included, while in 2022, Marcella in Châtelain finished 32nd.

London has the highest number of elite pizzerias on the Italian ranking in the past six years (16), putting it in first place in Europe (outside of Italy). "London's Napoli on the Road was awarded the title Best Pizzeria in Europe in 2024 and ranked fifth worldwide," Chef's Pencil wrote.
It landed ahead of Paris (14), Madrid, and Copenhagen (which both have six top-rated pizzerias).
