Vlaams Belang has been named the most popular party among young people for the second consecutive time, according to Humo’s Great Youth Survey published on Tuesday.
The survey revealed that 22% of young voters, with 34% of boys and 11% of girls, plan to vote for Vlaams Belang on Sunday.
Tom Van Grieken, leader of Vlaams Belang, is the most popular politician, surpassing Bart De Wever of N-VA, who led the rankings in 2020.
The top three parties are completed by Vooruit with 13% and N-VA with 12%. Notably, PVDA has risen to 11%, matching CD&V, compared to just 4% in 2020.

Generation Z in 2024 is significantly more negative about migration. While half acknowledge the need for migration to sustain our prosperity, 46% believe Flanders should not accept new migrants, up from 25% in 2020. Additionally, 46% see Islam as a threat to their culture, and 51% think migrants exploit social security, a sharp increase from 23 and 32% four years ago.
Young people are also pessimistic about their future. Nearly half (47%) fear their housing situation at age 40 will be worse than their parents’. They are similarly doubtful about job security (39%) and the environment (55%). Furthermore, 69% are concerned about climate change, yet only half believe the battle can still be won.
Humo’s Great Youth Survey was conducted by research agency iVox between 28 August and 9 September, involving 1,000 Flemish youths aged 16 to 25.
