A “unique” collection of 75 Hergé comics will be auctioned in Paris on 23 October, auction house Tajan announced on Wednesday.
The collection includes albums of Quick & Flupke, Popol & Virginie, Jo and Zette, and of course, Tintin.
Assembled mainly in the 1990s, the collection belongs to Felipe Ortiz-Patiño, a member of a renowned art-collecting family.
According to Tajan, the albums up for sale are in perfect or near-perfect condition.
Some copies come directly from the Casterman publisher’s print shop, Hergé’s personal collection, or previous auctions.
Among the lots are four original editions of Quick & Flupke, signed and numbered by Hergé himself.
The “jewels” of the sale are especially three albums with “exceptional” inscriptions: ‘Tintin in the Congo’, ‘Quick & Flupke’, and ‘Tintin in America.’
