Bus services in Leuven and Tielt-Winge are severely disrupted due to a spontaneous strike by De Lijn drivers, the Flemish public transport company announced on Friday morning.

"No buses are currently departing from these depots," the company clarified. De Lijn indicated that city routes 1 to 9 are particularly affected.

People travelling in Leuven and surrounding areas on Friday are advised to check the website or app to see if their route is still running.

A spokesperson for the company explained that drivers are unhappy with the new work schedules for January. De Lijn will consult with unions on Friday morning, she added.
