The weather in the coming days will be variable, with chances of rain and cold winds. However, next week, temperatures could soar above 20°C, an unusual phenomenon for mid-October.
Saturday afternoon will be mostly cloudy with maximum temperatures of 13°C in the centre of Belgium. A rain front will move across the country from the west and southwest, bringing a light drizzle, the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium (RMI) reported. Overnight, a weak disturbance with local showers will move inland from the coast. At the coast, strong gusts of wind (65 km/h) are expected.
Sunday will begin mostly sunny, with occasional cloud cover in the north. "A very local shower might occur in the far north," the RMI said. "It will be cool for the time of year, with high temperatures between 8°C in the Ardennes and 12°C elsewhere.
The RMI predicts rain across the country on Monday, and locally this could be accompanied by thunder. However, temperatures will rise slightly, up to 17°C. After some morning fog and clouds on Tuesday, the afternoon will see clear spells emerge. "It will become quite sunny with high and medium-level clouds in the afternoon. High temperatures will range from 15°C to 19°C."
By Wednesday, temperatures are expected to further soar, reaching up to 23°C in the north of Belgium (the Kempen) and 22°C in the centre of the country. While this is unusual for this time of year, Belgium experienced 22°C at the end of October 2022, while last year, temperatures were still reaching 25°C at the start of October.
