Train services between Belgium and the Netherlands will double in December with the introduction of a new international train between Brussels-Midi and Amsterdam-Zuid, the SNCB (National Railway Company of Belgium) announced on Wednesday.
The Eurocity Direct will cut travel time by 45 minutes between the two cities. Weekday travel time will be 2 hours and 7 minutes, and weekend travel time will be 2 hours. Departures from Brussels-Midi will be every hour at 49 minutes past the hour.
The service will operate 16 round trips per day. Stops will include Brussels-Midi, Antwerp Central, Rotterdam Central, Schiphol, and Amsterdam-Zuid.
This new service is in addition to the existing IC train, which will be renamed EuroCity and will run to Rotterdam from December. The Eurocity Direct is a collaboration with the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS).
Ticket sales for the new train service began on Wednesday, 16 October.
