The next Film Festival Ostend (FFO) will open on 31 January 2025 with 'Comeback', the first feature film by Flemish filmmakers and brothers Jan and Raf Roosens.
'Comeback' depicts a family portrait in which the dynamic between mother, father and daughter is central. The leading roles are played by Veerle Baetens, her daughter Billie-Louise Vlegels and Gorik van Oudheusden, better known by the pseudonym 'Zwangere Guy'.
This is the first attempt at a feature film by the Roosens brothers after making the short films 'Rotkop' and 'White Goldfish', for which they received several nominations and awards.
In addition to exclusive premieres of the latest Flemish films, the FFO, which ends on 8 February, features the iconic 'Meet the Masters' event, an exploration into film history for budding cinephiles.
Another major attraction is the annual Cinema Storck, in which the best arthouse films are shown in the Kinepolis Ostend.
The festival will also be visiting areas outside Ostend for 'FFO on tour,' bringing the best films from the 2024 edition to cultural centres in various parts of West Flanders.
Two award shows form the apotheosis of each edition of the FFO: the Jamies, for the best Flemish online videos, and the Ensors, for the best Flemish film and television productions.
