A major fire broke out on the roof of a six-storey building on Joseph Baeck Avenue in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean on Friday evening, according to Brussels firefighters.
No injuries have been reported, and firefighters evacuated all residents upon their arrival. The operation to extinguish the fire continued until midnight.
Part of the roof had to be broken in order to put out the fire, and prevent it from reigniting.
The fire has left the fifth floor of the building temporarily uninhabitable, and Brussels firefighters said that the building's electrical network will need to be inspected.
