Isaac Kimeli and Jana Van Lent were crowned Belgian cross-country champions on Sunday in Hulshout.

Despite a fall at the start that left him in 85th and last position, Isaac Kimeli won the title for the sixth time in his career.

The event also served as a selection for the European Championships, which will take place in Antalya on 8 December. The top four finishers in each category earned their ticket to Turkey.

Kimeli will be accompanied by John Heymans, who finished second, three seconds behind, as well as Robin Hendrix and Nicolaï Saké. In the women's event, Jana Van Lent, Lisa Rooms, Victoria Warpy, and Roxane Cleppe will represent Belgium.

Ruben Querinjean, who finished third, holds dual nationality and will compete for Luxembourg at the European Championships.

The mixed relay team is expected to include Eline Dalemans, the Belgian cross short champion who finished ahead of Mariska Parewyck, and Tibaut Vandelannoote, who claimed the men’s short cross title ahead of Ziad Audah.

The top two finishers in the women's short cross (where Marie Bilot took third place) and the men's short cross (where Maxime Delvoie completed the podium) were selected for the mixed relay.

In the under-23 category, Noah Konteh came out on top and booked his place at the Euros in Antalya, along with Tristan Gevaert, Mathis Lievens and Robbe Theeuwes.
