Sunday (today) has broken the record for the warmest 24 November in recorded history in Belgium, announced the Royal Meteorological Institute's (RMI) weather reporter David Dehenauw.
The temperature is 16°C in Uccle – where the RMI's main weather station is located. "The previous record dated from 2003 and was 15.8°C," said Dehenauw on social media.
After the chilly past few days, Sunday's temperatures are very mild and sunny. The maximum temperatures will be between 11°C in the south of the country and 17°C degrees in the west.
"We are currently getting subtropical winds from the south at high speed," said VRT weather reporter Sabine Hagedoorn. "The wind has little time to cool down and as a result, temperatures can rise sharply to record heights."
Still, it may feel a bit colder due to the wind: it blows quite strongly, with gusts of 60-75km/h at sea. In the Ardennes as well, gusts of up to 80 km/h are possible, according to the RMI.
