A convicted drug criminal wanted in Belgium has been arrested in Dubai, the Antwerp Public Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed.

Salahdin K. (41) was sentenced in June to eight years in prison for his involvement in the ‘Le Chiffre’ drug case, centred around drug lord Hoesny A.

Belgian authorities are now working to complete the procedures necessary to have him extradited and serve his sentence in Belgium.

Saladin’s arrest follows the recent capture in Dubai of Othman E.B. – a key figure in Antwerp’s drug scene and uncle of Firdaous, an 11-year-old who died in an attack – as well as Dutch national Stefan P., considered the right-hand man of drug lord Flor Bressers.

Earlier this year, Nordin E.H., known as ‘Dikke Nordin’, was also extradited from Dubai.

These arrests suggest that the previously challenging cooperation with the United Arab Emirates regarding high-profile drug criminals is beginning to yield results.

It remains to be seen whether all three detainees will be successfully extradited.
