The Belgian First Aid and Support Team (B-FAST) evacuated a patient from Ukraine to Belgium on Wednesday to provide necessary medical care.

This demonstrates Belgium’s continued support for Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release on Wednesday evening.

Belgium makes hospital units available to care for injured Ukrainians when needed. This operation is part of the European Union’s civil protection mechanism.

The patient was flown to Belgium by Norway.

B-FAST, the Government of Belgium’s rapid-intervention structure, provides emergency aid during disasters abroad, at the request of the government of the country concerned.
