Almost 235,000 people receiving early pensions will soon be receiving a message from the Federal Pensions Service warning them of a new ceiling in place since 1 January for early retirees taking up flexi-jobs.

Until 2024, there was only a general ceiling applicable to all professional income, including from flexi-jobs. The amount of this ceiling depends on the personal situation of each worker.

The new additional ceiling introduced from 2025 applies only to income from flexi-jobs.

In concrete terms: if you have a flexi-job, you will now have to contend with an additional ceiling of €7,876 per year. Failure to comply with this limit may result in a reduction or suspension of your pension.

Some 235,000 people are affected by the new ceiling, according to Vik Beullens, spokesman for the Federal Pensions Service. They will be notified personally by post or through the mypension.be website.

On the other hand, people who have reached the statutory pension age can start earning unlimited professional income from 1 January of the year of their pension.

The ceiling for flexi-jobs also does not apply in a number of other cases listed on the pensions service website, in particular for people who have been compulsorily retired, such as career soldiers or persons who are physically unfit.
