A man working at a coffee company has stolen products such as pods valued at a minimum of €10,000, Rivierenland police reported on Friday.
Towards the end of 2024 the company noticed a growing number of thefts. Goods disappeared from the warehouse at regular intervals, usually during night shifts.
“An employee quickly became a suspect,” explained Dirk Van de Sande, spokesperson for the local police. “During his night shifts, the man stole goods and transported them to his home in Willebroek.”
Police intercepted the man on Tuesday morning after his shift. Significant quantities of stolen coffee products were found in his car and home. The 48-year-old man is now in the custody of justice authorities and has been dismissed from his job.
