AB InBev employees in Hoegaarden continued their strike on Wednesday, following the sudden walkout that began on Tuesday.

The strike was sparked by the dismissal of a longtime employee with 35 years of service. In solidarity, about 150 out of the 215 staff members stopped work.

The same number of workers did not return to work on Wednesday. No discussions have taken place between the management and the unions.

"We remain open to talks, but we have yet to receive any positive response from the management," said ACV Secretary Sander Mouton. "We fear they may simply wait out the situation without engaging."

"We hope the situation can be resolved, allowing for the resumption of a normal social dialogue," added Pieter Van Der Elst, ABVV Secretary. "We will have to see how the day unfolds."

In a brief written statement, AB InBev’s management expressed regret over the strike. "We are assessing the impact, but there has been no effect on customer deliveries," the company stated.
