The municipality of Anderlecht revealed more details on Friday about police deployment in areas most affected by recent shootings.
Representatives of the six local police zones and the Brussels Federal Police Coordinator met to assess the developing situation, in which a spate of drug-related violence has led to four shootings in three days.
In an effort to get on top of the issue, a coordinated visibility operation will be initiated and will operate around the clock under the management of the chief of the Midi police.
According to Anderlecht commune, this action will involve all personnel from the Midi police zone with the support of 18 federal police officers, in addition to those already deployed in the Clemenceau metro and the Midi station.

Brussels-Capital-Ixelles Police (Polbru) will also provide constant support with a minimum of five teams. All police zones in the Brussels-Capital Region with specialised units for responding to heavy weapons will also be involved.
"It was essential to mobilise the available police forces due to several shootings," said Anderlecht Mayor Fabrice Cumps in a statement.
This exceptional measure is made possible with the support of the federal police, the Brussels-Capital police, and the other four police zones in the Brussels region. This exceptional deployment will be continuously evaluated based on the evolving threat.
