The movie “Skunk” won the Best Film and Best Makeup (Evalotte Oosterop) awards at the Ensors Gala in Ostend on Friday night.
“Skunk,” directed by Koen Mortier, is an adaptation of Geert Taghon’s book of the same name. The film tells the story of Liam, a neglected teenager who grows up in a violent environment before ending up in a closed institution.
Other major winners included “Holy Rosita” and “Julie Zwijgt,” each securing five Ensors. “Holy Rosita” won awards for Best Film Music (David Martijn), Best Artistic Direction (Toon Mariën), Best Actress in a Leading Role (Daphne Agten), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Mieke De Groote), and the Telenet Audience Award.
“Julie Zwijgt” received accolades for Best Screenplay (Leonardo van Dijl, Ruth Becquart) and Best Direction (Leonardo van Dijl).
The series “Moresnet” also won three Ensors, including Best Fiction Series.
