The Antwerp police have administratively closed a hospitality business on Gitschotellei in the Berchem disctrict of Antwerp after discovering drugs and illegal gaming machines on Friday evening.

The local police confirmed on Saturday that they conducted a large inspection following complaints of cannabis use and illegal dumping.

Neighbourhood teams were used, supported by customs, the local environmental crime unit, an arrest unit, dog teams, a drone team, and the social law supervision team.

Eight out of the 31 people present had small amounts of soft drugs and received an on-the-spot settlement. One person residing illegally in the country was administratively arrested.

Another individual was found carrying €4,000 in cash. A report for money laundering was filed, and the money was confiscated.

User quantities of drugs were found in various locations, including under table legs, amounting to 27 grams of marijuana and six grams of hashish.

The environmental crime unit also seized three illegal gaming machines. A large gaming table and a kilogram of shisha tobacco were found on the first floor. As the establishment lacked a shisha bar permit, it was administratively closed.
