Police are searching for the perpetrator of an armed robbery at a gold exchange office in Dilbeek, community on the outskirts of Brussels.

The suspect, a man disguised as a woman, committed the crime on 16 March 2024, the day before the Dilbeek carnival parade.

At 15:19, the man rang the doorbell of the gold exchange office on Ninoofsesteenweg. When the employee let him in, he immediately brandished a knife, threatened her, and searched the premises.

He then locked the employee in the office and fled with jewellery and foreign currency.

The robber escaped on foot along Ninoofsesteenweg, heading towards Ninove, and crossed the street near the Colruyt supermarket.

The suspect was last captured on camera near a bicycle shop at Ninoofsesteenweg, house number 193. Before the robbery, he was seen at a secluded car park in an alley connecting Kaudenaardestraat with Ninoofsesteenweg.

He walked a considerable distance both before and after the crime and may have entered a car at some point. The man is approximately 1.80 meters tall and of slender build.

He has blue-grey eyes and spoke French without an accent. During the robbery, he wore sunglasses, a bright pink hat, a blonde wig, a long black coat with a hood, and dark high shoes.

He carried a black handbag and a knife with a red blade.

Anyone who recognises the suspect or has more information is urged to contact the police at opsporingen@police.belgium.eu or call the free number 0800/30300.
