Bpost operations in Wallonia were still disrupted on Monday morning due to union actions, especially in the Liège region and Tournai.

The postal workers' protest began about a week ago in Tournai and has since spread to various locations in Wallonia. On Monday, postal workers from Liège and Visé went to the Awans sorting centre to inform their colleagues of the situation.

Management has requested bailiffs to document the blockage of the site. Unions have heavily criticised the move.

"The CGSP strongly condemns these practices that aim to pressure postal workers fighting for their working conditions and the quality of public postal services. Instead of addressing legitimate worker concerns, sending bailiffs is a repression strategy that only exacerbates tensions," said the socialist union in a statement. Bailiffs also intervened at the Charleroi sorting centre.

Postal employees reject the work reorganisation proposed by management. According to CSC Transcom-Postes, an initial emergency meeting yielded no results for Visé. Staff representatives and Bpost management will meet again on Tuesday in Brussels to discuss this reorganisation.

Management clarified that no layoffs are planned in the new organisation. The process involves reallocating routes based on field realities, said a spokesperson. Transforming quickly is necessary for the company's sustainability amidst competition from parcel delivery companies like Amazon. Solutions are being sought for postal workers potentially losing routes to ensure they retain their positions within the group, the spokesperson added.
