Wallonia Minister-President Adrien Dolimont (MR) has called for an inter-ministerial conference on the fiscal reforms planned by the new federal government.

Dolimont, who is also responsible for the Budget, said this on Monday in the Walloon Parliament.

He emphasised that such a meeting is necessary for Belgium to present a budget plan to the European Commission by March.

According to Dolimont, the federal fiscal reforms could cost the Walloon region approximately €270 million per year at cruising speed.

“The fiscal reform is not neutral,” he said. “But since it contributes to employment and the revaluation of low and medium wages, I believe it is understandable for Wallonia to play its part.”

Dolimont noted that the greatest financial impact would likely be felt towards the end of the legislative term.
