The burnt bodies of two people were discovered late on Saturday afternoon by a walker in the Baileux woods in Chimay, Hainaut, the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office said late on Sunday morning, confirming a report in several media. The case has been referred to an examining magistrate.
A walker in the Baileux woods discovered the charred bodies of two victims at around 17:00 on Saturday. He alerted the police, who then notified the magistrate on duty at the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office. "The examining magistrate, the public prosecutor’s office and the forensic police descended on the scene at the start of the night. A forensic doctor and a fire expert were also called in," said the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office late on Sunday morning.
Given the circumstances, the public prosecutor’s office has referred the case to an investigating magistrate for culpable homicide. The two victims have not been identified. The authorities have not received any recent reports of the disappearance of two people. "An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. The investigation is continuing," concluded the judicial authority.
