The strike at Bpost finally ended on Wednesday evening. The postal company announced this in a brief statement, stating that work would resume that evening.

The socialist union CGSP Poste, the French-speaking counterpart of ACOD Post, confirmed that the blockades were lifted to prioritise a unified front and dialogue, although they remain unconvinced by the company’s proposals.

Management and unions met on Wednesday to address the labour dispute that had been ongoing for two weeks at the parcel delivery service in Wallonia and Brussels.

Union representatives presented the new proposal from management to their members.

CGSP Poste said the blockades would be suspended to see if bpost’s proposals meet grassroots demands. They noted the intention not to propose new reorganisations during technical negotiations.

Bpost’s statement highlighted the priority of regaining customer trust and clearing the backlog in parcel and mail delivery as soon as possible.

The company remains committed to the reorganisations, which they deem essential to secure the future of their 26,000 employees in Belgium in a rapidly changing market.

Federal Minister of Government Enterprises, Vanessa Matz (Les Engagés), expressed satisfaction with the agreement reached on Wednesday evening.

She thanked the various parties for opting for reconciliation for the benefit of the company, employees, and customers.

In the coming weeks, management and unions will continue discussions on the specific terms of the reorganisations.
