Brussels Airport recognised airlines and partners for their exceptional performance in the past year at its 18th Aviation Awards ceremony, held on Thursday evening.
Eleven awards were presented, highlighting achievements in punctuality, safety, environmental contributions, and network development.
The prestigious Diamond Award, which honours an extraordinary achievement by an individual or organisation, went to Johan Decuyper, CEO of air traffic control service Skeyes. Brussels Airport praised Decuyper for leading the organisation’s transformation, including a rebranding, and for emphasising innovation, sustainable development, and talent growth.
In the Punctuality and Safety category, Transavia won for short-haul flights, Hainan Airlines for long-haul flights, and Gate Gourmet received the Safety Award.
Hainan Airlines has now won the Punctuality Award for the second consecutive year. It also received it in 2011 and 2014. Gate Gourmet also won the Safety Award in 2021.
Qatar Airways Cargo won the award for contributing the most to Brucargo’s development for the fifth time. Dnata received the BRUcargo Award, DSV won the Logistic Service Provider Award, and the Cargo Network Development Award went to LATAM Cargo.
In addition to the Diamond Award, Skeyes also received the Environment Award.
The Network Development Awards recognised airlines that established new routes or saw significant passenger growth, with Air Arabia Maroc winning for short-haul flights and Singapore Airlines for long-haul flights.
