Belgium's construction company, Jan De Nul, will be responsible for laying the foundations for Inch Cape, one of Scotland's largest offshore wind farms, the company announced on Thursday.

The project, with a capacity of 1,080 MW, involves 72 turbines off the east coast of Scotland.

The foundations are up to 110 metres long and weigh up to 2,500 tonnes, equivalent to the weight of around 2,500 small cars. The monopiles will be loaded from a quay built at the entrance to the port of Leith in Edinburgh.

Jan De Nul will be responsible for transporting and installing the foundations with its vessel Les Alizés. These operations will begin at the end of 2025.

Once operational, Inch Cape will produce enough green energy to supply the equivalent of half of Scottish households.
