Depo-EI CV has recalled several batches of its free-range eggs due to potential salmonella contamination, in agreement with the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (Afsca).

The affected eggs are stamped with the code “1-BE-306401” and have a use-by date between 27 January and 24 March 2025. Consumers are advised to check the code on their eggs and not to consume those that match these details.

Customers can return the affected eggs to the point of purchase for a refund.

Salmonella infections cause gastrointestinal issues with fever within 12 to 72 hours after consuming contaminated products. Young children, immunocompromised individuals, and the elderly are at higher risk.
