Friday has set a new record for the warmest 7 March since measurements began.
David Dehenauw of the Royal Meteorological Institute (KMI) confirmed that the old record from 1991 was surpassed shortly before 2:30 p.m. in Uccle.
“Currently 17.7 degrees in Uccle. Old day record from 1991 (17.6) thus broken. Final result will be known later,” Dehenauw posted on X.
The temperature was still rising slightly, so the final figure was yet to be confirmed.
Day temperatures have been closely monitored since 1880.
More sunny and above-average weather is expected in the coming days. Monday will start sunny, but rain is expected by late afternoon leading to a drop in temperature.
From Tuesday, the temperature will cool down significantly.
