A person has died, and another was seriously injured following an accident on the A17 (E403) in Dottignies, Hainaut, heading towards Tournai on Saturday at approximately 8:30, according to police sources.
The accident occurred before the Mouscron exit and involved a single vehicle, which reportedly swerved off course. The driver, who sustained serious injuries, has been hospitalised in Kortrijk. A passenger was thrown from the vehicle and killed instantly.
Emergency services from Wapi and Fluvia zones responded to the incident. A rescue vehicle, two ambulances, and a mobile emergency and resuscitation unit (SMUR) were dispatched to the scene.
The road, which was closed for several hours, has been reopened to traffic.
