Traffic police in East Flanders intercepted a van transporting 150 kilogrammes of ketamine on the E17 towards Kortrijk, federal police report.
The bust occurred during the night of 10 to 11 March. The police reported that a German van caught their attention due to its erratic driving on the E17 between Sint-Niklaas and Lochristi. The van was heading towards Kortrijk.
“A vigilant patrol from the federal traffic police decided to conduct a check and discovered six sealed boxes containing more than 150 kilogrammes of ketamine in the cargo area,” the police stated. “The driver was brought before an examining magistrate in Dendermonde, and then detained.”
The detention has since been confirmed by the Chamber, the police added, although no further details can be provided.
The man is to remain in custody for another month.
