Sauti Za Visiwa, the new festival celebrating the music and creativity of African people and their diasporas, will kick off at Le Baixu in Brussels on Thursday and continue until Sunday.

This first edition will explore the transmission of African musical and cultural heritage. Under the theme 'Future Memories', it will feature music, dance, and live arts to investigate how identities are constructed, transformed, and reinvented, announced the organising team on Wednesday in a press release.

Musicians, dancers, and poets from across the continent will share their visions and create bridges between past and future.

MPLI and Alex Dell will open the festival with a set that combines soul, pop, and French chanson. The following day will be dedicated to poetry with award-winning Belgian-Congolese poet Raïssa Yowali and artist Régine Faïk, who preserves cultural memories.

On Saturday, singer and poet Soledad Kalza and virtuoso mandingue guitar player Sina Kienou will present a performance blending jazz, rock, and traditional music. Finally, kora virtuoso Mamadou Dramé will perform on Sunday, followed by Kabunga, a group that mixes traditional rhythms with contemporary influences for a unique groove.

The complete programme is available on the event's website.
